Wire Binding Quick Answers
Why Use Wire Binding Systems?
Wire binding, often referred to as metal comb or double-loop-wire, is one of the fastest growing forms of in-house binding. These wire binders are designed to create professional documents, allowing the user to create one or one hundred documents, reports or booklets. Wire bound documents are able to lay flat and do not cost much to operate.
Wire binding machines and systems vary in size, depending on need. Small manual machines use an arm to punch the paper, where larger electric punches are designed for high-volume use. Wire binding systems are available from manufacturers such as GBC, Ibico, Akiles, Renz and more.
Wire binding elements and supplies are available in various colors and sizes, allowing you to personalize your document. Supplies are available in three formats; Spiral-O, 3:1 and 2:1 pitches. Spiral-O has 19 holes punched along an 11-inch sheet of paper. Three-to-one (3:1) has three holes along every inch of paper. Two-to-one (2:1) has two holes along every inch of paper. Be sure you get the right supplies for your machine!
